honestly, i really don't care about athletes personal lives...if I did, then I'd hate 90% of professional sports. If their antics affect the team i.e. Terrell Owens or Randy Moss, then I say give'em the ole boot but the Packers can't just get rid of Brett...all hell would break loose. If he decides to retire, that's one thing.
If the idiot they have for a GM would actually spend the money to aquire a good offensive line, and a good set of recievers, then Farve, even at his advnanced age, could do quite well. He can't move like he did 10 years ago, but he is still one of the better QB's available (just no longer the best QB on a team).
The real problem is the GM. If there is room under the cap (which their is), the GM needs to use it (all of it) to get some quality players in there. Until very recently, the Packers GM does not appear to have been doing that.
