I always assumed a compound fracture would bleed more...

I once sliced the tip of my finger off, and one time I put a knife through the palm of my hand. Both of those bled a lot, but didn't actually hurt that much until after they were stitched up.

I have never broken anything, though. That has to hurt.

If it was just dislocated, it probably could have just been popped back in, but that's freaking bone out there - that can't be good...

ewww.

TT always shows me nasty pictures like this - she watches that trauma life in the ER crap, makes me sick! I always tell her I don't want to see it, and I'm the one they should come to if they want to sue someone, not pop something back into place. Nasty Tori...nasty.

I couldn't put it back into place b/c it was fractured. If I had attempted, I could've injured the nerves and blood vessels in the area causing further damage.

I was also suprised there wasn't more bleeding. I just called his parents down, wrapped it in clean dressing, laid an ice pack under it and sent him on his merry way to the ER.

pappy will like this one once he gets back from vacation
