I need a life

I'm been stuck home all weekend sick and you know its gotten bad when I was talking to my family's 2 doberman I'm dog-sitting.

Its also pathetic that I stole my parent's Chicago Tribune Sports section and immediately turned to the "High school sports" section to see the latest rankings. My school is pretty good in sports and is nipping at the heels of my alma mater. I love my old high school yet loathe them b/c we're always finishing second behind them. But when you work with high school athletics for hours every single day, can you blame me for caring? Even worse, I called a friend of mine who is one of the varsity football coaches for the team we are playing for Homecoming next week just to heckle him. I told him that his school has no chance in hell and just to stay home to avoid the embarrassment. Then he told me his team wants to send a keg over the night before to the team captain's place to get my kids drunk. Or he wants to start a fight at my school so my athletes will get suspended. So I told him I will "acccidently" forget to give his team water on their sidelines. Sooo sad, grown people bickering over high school football, I guess I'm not the only one that needs a life.

Also quite annoying...........the Tribune sports section has been renamed "Soxtober". As a Cubs fan, its frustrating to see the first like 4 pages dedicated to the White Sox. I guess, if the Cubs can't win, I'd like the White Sox to win......only problem being that Sox fans get on my nerves. So if they could win yet none of the fans could talk smack to Cubs fans, then I'd be happy. But no matter what, we are still Chicago's beloved Cubbies for the following reasons:

1. We sell out no matter win or lose. Die hard fans
2. We have Wrigley Field (which Sox fans say most fans are "Wrigley fans, not Cubs fans"..who gives a rat's ass)
3. Our fans are much better looking
4. I don't fear for my life when going to Wrigleyville......"The Cell" is surround by creepy, ghetto projects.
5. We have a bar every 5 feet surrounding Wrigley Field.....where the Old Style flows till wee hours in the morning. The women are easy and the men buy us beers.
6. We are America's colors.......Red, White and Blue :)
7. Watch any away Cubs game..........always lots of fans in the stands!

I could go on forever but you get the picture. Soooo, I guess go White Sox. Now if only my Green Bay Packers can get a win Monday Night against Carolina for the love of god.........

Ya, well up in Milwaukee, we find the Sox and the Cubs fans who have infested our parks over the years to both be highly obnoxious (though Sox fans are certainly the more obnoxious of the two).

I wouldn't worry too much about the Sox, though. I think the ALCS will come down to Boston and NY.

As for the Packers, well, it is starting to look like the early 70's & 80's all over again...

get over it, for once the White Sox are the talk of the town. Deal with it, and stop crying a river about the CUBS!

don't be jealous just bc we have a GREAT team and the cubbies suck! and when was the last time u were at the cell? it's not scary there! and at least the cell isn't falling apart like wrigley is! every year they have to reinforce that hell hole so it doesn't come crashing down! we on the other hand have a beautiful, very well kept up stadium!

stuffle- I have to agree with you. We come into Miller Park and overtake the place!

I have never really understood the fascination by Cubs fans with the Cubs. I like baseball, will watch games, but I am not married to my team. Hope they win, but mostly there to drink beers and soak up some sun.

Anyway, last time I was in the Chi, I went to the Cubby Bear for the first time ever. I do have to agree with your one comment that Cubs fans are better looking. However, I will have to go with stuffle that they are still very obnoxious, at least compared to well mannered Brewers fans.

eddie, have you even been to a White Sox game? or does it just sound better to agree with the cub fans?

MSU77,

It was not saying that one was more obnoxious than the other, I was merely agreeing with stuffle that Cubs fans were, from my experience, obnoxious.

When the Brewers were in the A.L. and I was too young to know better, my father took me to a White Sox game and the fans behind us were Sox fans. They were extremely obnoxious.

Yes, you have read the magic 8-ball, and it comes up, "Eddie very jealous, will get castorated for admonishing loyal Cubs fans."

I think it is because they are from Chicago. Something about that city makes them obnoxious. We also get a lot of Twins and Cards fans making the trek to our park when one of those two teams are in town. However, the fans of those two teams are generally not on par with the obnoxious a-holes we get when there is a Chicago team in town.

yeah, well the only time your ballpark ever sells out is when the cubs come to town.

I must say though, I really do like Miller Park. I did have this dumb friend once who tried to order Bud Light.

And Back off Eddie, he's awesome!

Hey now, we also sold out the last game of this season.

Of course, the tickets were free, but we'll just ignore that minor detail... :)

tori, maybe you and eddie should hook up sometime. You're a Cub fan, he's a Brewer fan, both teams represent a medicore (more cubs) style of play.

Hey, the Brewers went .500 this year. That's more than they have done in over a decade. However, I'm not the die hard fan that Cubs fans are. I just kick back, pay my $10 for bleacher tickets, drink heavily before hand, drink during the game, soak up the rays, and watch the Brewers get hammered, typically.

you sox fans act all high and mighty.......what was the last time you made the playoffs?

At 5:36 PM , Blogger msu77 said...

The last time the Sox made the playoffs was back in 2000. What's you're point, the Cubs made it and let a dork by the name of Steve Bartman ruin their chances at the World Series? Deal with it!

did i not say i want the sox to win? its never enough for you people! yeesh...see this was what i was talking about. i dont mind the sox but its the fans that drive me bananas

Um... Yeah... If yesterday's game is any indication (which hopefully it is not), I may have to eat my words on that one.

Still hoping for a NY / Boston match-up (far more exciting), but it wasn't looking good yesterday...

I have the worst gambling memories from Boston, do you remember those?

At 11:42 AM , Blogger Tori said...

I'll take my crow fried, thanks!

On the plus side, seeing all of the unhappy Boston fans was just precious.
