Student update
So I have this student who's a freshman and has an "A" in my class right now. Like I said in my earlier post, he brought a BB gun to school and was showing it around in the hallway. I had to do a write-up on him evaluating his grade, behavior, absences, etc. in my class to be presented to the school board.
Well, What I DIDN'T know was that he shot 4 students in the hallway with it!!!! I just found out he was expelled from school. Do you think the punishment fit the crime?

With your first post, I thought the punishment was a bit severe. We get too carried away with all of this "zero tollerance" crap. Administrators should use the brains God gave them and make a judgement call based on the situation and not apply some sort of stupid blanket policy (which is what it appeared they were doing with your last post).
However, if he actually fired the BB gun, I think things are a bit different. Expulsion seems reasonable in that case.

Yes, there was evidence he shot 4 other kids with the BB gun. They were friends of his and were goofing around. He wasn't acting like a sniper or anything.
Usually none of the kids who get expelled suprise me in the least. This one really shocked me. Model student, first offense, a freshman, did something really stupid.
Upon reflection, I believe an example is being made of him and probably a good idea.
Yah - he should be expelled, even if it is just to make an example of him. If he got away with it, or was even just suspended, then tomorrow some kid could come in with a shotgun.
Although, some of those students of yours probably do deserve to be shot :)
ewwww, one of my female students is wearing a tshirt that says "I love Jlow Blobs."
Well, at least it is better than some of those shirts that say something like "Bitch", "Slut", or "Whore".
Sometimes I am utterly amazed at a.) what some people wear, and b.) what some people's parenets allow them to wear.
